Find Help

If you are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless, you can search the Michigan Coalition Against Homelessness’s List of Shelters in Michigan to find a shelter. If you are in immediate need of a shelter, call the Department of Human Services Hotline: 1-800-A-SHELTER(1-800-274-3583). They will arrange for temporary emergency shelter or a motel stay.

For Health and Human Service assistance, dial 2-1-1. Dial 2-1-1 is a program spearheaded by United Way. More information is available from the Michigan Association of United Ways.

For those looking for new housing, we recommend the Michigan Housing Locator. This tool, provided by the Michigan State Housing Development Authority(MSHDA), is searchable by max rent, location, and other factors that will help find the housing you need.

Find your area’s Continuum of Care

Continuum of Care is a coalition of area agencies working together with homeless residents of the county to help them access needed services. It is a proven way of agencies working together to prevent clients from slipping through the “cracks” of the system.
