Advocacy
To truly eliminate homelessness in Michigan will require the combined work of those who volunteer their time and skills, as well as the assistance of the Michigan legislature. The best way to get your government representatives involved is to show them that you and your community want them to take action.
How to contact your Representative or Senator
Writing a letter or making a phone call to your congressman or senator’s office is an easy way to show your support for homelessness aid and prevention. Michigan’s government web site offers tools to look up your representatives
How to Write Letters to Congress
Remember to keep all letters courteous and on-topic.
Many Senators also offer “coffee hours,” where you can meet with him or her in person, with no need for an appointment. Each Senator will have his or her specific dates and locations on their personal web site. These are a great resource to personally connect with your Senator.
